FEDERAL GRANT ELIGIBILITY

"Beginning September 1, 2006, all VFD’s applying for grants which
involve federal funds will need to certify that they are “NIMS Compliant”.

The IS-700 National Incident Management System (NIMS) and ICS-100 Introduction to Incident Command System ICS 200 ICS for single Resources and Initial Action Incidents, are required self-study training for every Firefighter, First Responder, EMS,  Police Officers, Sheriff Deputies, Constables, and Public Works Supervisors in Comanche County.

(This includes:  Comanche County, City of Comanche, City of De Leon, and City of Gustine.  Also all firefighters in Comanche County.)

The IS 800 National Response Framework (NRF), An Introduction, and ICS 300 Intermediate ICS are required training for Fire Department officers and Sheriff, Police and Constable mid level management positions. IS 800 is a self study on line and ICS 300 is class room training.

The ICS 400 Advanced ICS is required class room study for Command and General Staff in an ICS organization, select Department Heads with Multi Agency Coordination System responsibilities, Area Managers, Emergency Managers, Emergency Operation Center Managers.

Supervisors, Chiefs, and Department Heads:  please advise the Emergency Management office when your people finish the courses—and also provide a copy of the training certificates when received.


Certification Courses

The Emergency Service Training Institute (Texas Engineering Extension Service—Texas A&M System) offers many courses.  Some are available locally—or online.
